The day has come! Sparrows Sing of Dying, book 2 in The Tides That Reign saga has arrived on virtual bookshelves!
This book means so much to me, not only because it is the continuation of a series that has had me in its clutches for the better part of a decade, but also because of the writing experience.
Sparrows is the first sequel I have written in over a decade. Most of my books are standalones. A larger story such as The Tides That Reign gives me the chance to delve into deeper characterizations and emotional arcs. Because of this, my connections to these characters is so much richer and multi-faceted than they would be in a single volume. I know them like family members, like the closest of friends. We’ve weathered the highs of triumph and the lows of loss together.
This was also my covid book. With the first draft completed in November 2020, Sparrows represents a time of uncertainty and turmoil. It was my reprieve from the chaos beyond my windows.
