Heyo!
May is well underway, which means we’re in the heart of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
You may not have noticed since I’ve been so subtle about it, but the world of The Tides That Reign is heavily influenced by East and Southeast Asia. Not only do the settings, architecture, clothing, and food borrow from these regions, but the mythology is rife with references to these culturally rich areas – in particular, the Philippines!
Needless to say, I love celebrating this aspect of my heritage and how it informs my storytelling every May. Thanks for partaking in AAPI Heritage Month with me!
The Tides That Reign
Now on to the updates! The retailer release for The Tides That Reign book 3, Before the Ghost Sea, is June 12! So, anyone who skipped out on the Kickstarter will have the chance to finally get their hands on a standard edition of the penultimate chapter in my dark epic fantasy saga.
Ghost Sea will release simultaneously on all formats including Kindle Unlimited. This series is moving fast. You never know if something else might be coming before the end of 2026.

It feels super strange that this book isn’t technically out to the public yet, only those who supported the Kickstarter campaign, but that’s just the Kickstarter life, isn’t it! I cannot wait for this novel to hit shelves. I am not just attempting to boost interest when I say that it is my favorite in the series up to this point. Hopefully, y’all will enjoy it too!
Bay Area Book Fest
After the stunning experience that was the Sacramento Book Fest, I am so excited to be participating in the Bay Area Book Fest on Sunday, May 31st. For those who might attend, the Bookworm Block Party will take over several streets in Berkeley’s downtown area.

If you’re in the area, consider stopping by! It’s sure to be a great time!
Kickstarter Fulfillment
In case you haven’t been checking, Kickstarter fulfillment is well underway! All digital goods went out, as well as most paperback editions. Hardcovers have been ordered from the printer, but because those are coming from oversea, it will be a longer wait time. Expect those to show up late in May or even early June.
Alright, that’ll do it for this newsletter! Hope y’all are out there enjoying the May flowers! Stay fresh.
