Berkeley Bound: Gearing Up for the Bay Area Book Festival

Heyo!

Springtime is well, well underway, including spring reading. I know I’ve been eyes-deep in some really fantastic worlds this May, including Light Bringer, book 6 in Pierce Brown’s indelible Red Rising saga, as well as the ARC for Vesneratch’s debut gargoyle epic Stoneblood.

But, as the old adage goes, “there’s always room for more books” (some old philosopher definitely said that).

Bay Area Book Fest 2026

If you reside in the greater Northern California region, then you’re in luck! The Bay Area Book Festival will be in full swing this weekend, starting on Friday, May 29th! This includes the annual Bookworm Block Party on Sunday, May 31st – a no-holds barred celebration of literature where hundreds of vendors block the streets of downtown Berkeley to offer up their latest literary delicacies!

As promised, I will be among those in attendance! Feel free to drop by to say ‘hello!’ You’ll be able to find me at Booth 209 as part of the Author Pavilion along Allston Way between Milvia Street and Shattuck Avenue! Below is a map of the full event:

With attendance estimates from previous years in the multiple-tens of thousands, it’s sure to be a fantastic time for book-minded folks!

In Conversation w/ Rebecca Robinson

That’s not all for Spring 2026 events. I will also be appearing at Bloodstone Books in Sacramento on Saturday, June 13th for the Before the Ghost Sea retailer release party!

Author Rebecca Robinson's portrait. She has blond hair and dark eyes, and wears a blue dress with pink and brown flowers on it. In the background is a wall covered in ivy.

I will be joined by my esteemed friend, Rebecca Robinson, author of the Dark Inheritance romantic fantasy trilogy.

This is the second time Rebecca and I will co-host a gathering. We first met for the release of her debut novel, The Serpent and the Wolf, in November 2024.

The event will coincide with Bloodstone Books’s The Point pop up cafe! Who doesn’t love reading and coffee?

That’ll do it for this newsletter, y’all. I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events!
