The Author Corner with Vesneratch: Building the World of The Sky Viper Saga

Heyo!

Summer is undeniably upon us, and in this household, Pool is the Rule. That being, my toddler is all about swimming in any body of water she can throw herself into. Now, I wasn’t a huge pool/swimming person before she was born, but given how much joy the simple pleasure of water activities brings her, I’m giving into the addiction.

Beyond that, I’ve found myself re-entranced by the third season of HBO’s House of the Dragon. While season 2 was a dragging disappointment that nearly got me to quit watching, the writers have stepped up their game and added some fire to the series. I’m hoping they can keep the momentum going.

What have you been doing with your summer thus far?

I recently had the honor of (virtually) sitting down with Vesneratch, debut author of the epic fantasy novel Stoneblood.

The opening entry in The Sky Viper Saga which will his shelves this October, Stoneblood centers around a collection of gargoyles contending with the aftermath of a centuries long war, and the cost paid for a shot at peace.

Stoneblood was a surprise addition to my tbr this year that proved its mettle with fiery action, compelling emotional stakes, and a cast of challenging but endearing characters. You can view our conversation in full below:

Vesneratch also happens to lead the Indie Fantasy Club, a growing online community focused on discovering and sharing fantasy books written and published by indie authors. Last year, IFC awarded Design of Darkness with a Ruby Hidden Gem Award, and recently, Sparrows Sing of Dying was given the same distinction!
